Water by Morgan Maassen

Here’s a dreamy video by surf photographer Morgan Maassen, inspiration for travelling somewhere tropical and shooting underwater, in case you needed any.

Morgan described the short as “a brief odyssey into the world that I cherish most.” Filmed on a Red Epic, Nikon 14mm F/2.8 lens, in an SPL waterhousing.

That sounds like a sweet set-up, and the results are pretty fantastic as you can see, I can’t wait to get a few more days with good visibility in the UK to try out some more underwater shooting.

From a small day with rare clear water in South Devon, Joe paddles the Catch Surf Super One, ISO 800, 11mm, f4, 1/1000.
Unfortunately this is about as clear as we can hope for at a beach in South Devon, Joe paddles the Catch Surf Super One, ISO 800, 11mm, f4, 1/1000.

On a different and only tangentially related note I’ve just got my hands on an SPL a-series housing (like the one used to shoot the video) that I’m currently modifying to accept as many different camera bodies and lens combo’s as I can, once finished it should offer me some more options and a slightly lighter set-up for a personal project to be carried out this summer and autumn.
